The lightest model in the Altum series starts with Parlee's highest modulus carbon fiber material. Through a combination of complex FEA (Finite Element Analysis) modeling and physical testing, they engineered a new layup process that places the high modulus carbon fiber in strategic areas to maximize weight reduction without negatively impacting strength or stiffness. Of course, it’s not just about stiffness and weight. Much of the carbon layup strategy is how Parlee attains their desired ride quality. The Altum is engineered to feel “snappy” when you stand up and sprint but have just enough compliance, especially in the rear triangle, to give it a smooth ride. A traditional round 31.6mm seatpost with a hidden integrated binder as well as clearance for 28mm-wide tires adds just a hint more compliance. The fork features an integrated carbon that improves stiffness and saves weight. Plus, with clip-in cable and wire routing for mechanical and electronic systems, Parlee made sure the Altum was future-proof and simple to work on. Quick, reliable DT Swiss wheels carry you as far as you want to go, while the Campagnolo Record drivetrain ensures quick, distinctive shifting. The 3T and Fizik cockpit offers solid ergonomics and clean aesthetics.
